Hi, I'm Brandon Howe

I’m a junior studying CS + Math at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). I’ve also been working at Mechanical Solutions for over 4 years. I also developed and run Touch by Touch, a digital scorekeeping service for high school and college fencing. Over the past year I have been upskilling in AI safety research. I’m located in New Jersey.

For fun I like reading about and discussing philosophy, politics (especially Abundance), AI, and math. You can see a list of my favorite writers here. I’m also a fencer competing at the division I level for my university!

My ethical theory is utilitarianism based off analytic hedonism. Epistemologically I think phenomenal conservatism and Bayesian epistemology makes the most sense. I’m an atheist in most meanings of the word. I also believe in effective altruism and rationality. I’ve taken the Giving What We Can pledge and donate 10% of my income split between FarmKind and the Shrimp Welfare Project.
